Q: Before working at Create, what was the most unusual or interesting project you’ve worked on?
A: Probably the most unusual was the new slaughterhouse at Longue Hougue. The buildings process was completely new to me, very educational in a sort of macabre way.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I most enjoy working cohesively with a team of different specialists (structural, fire & services engineers, manufacturers etc). The problem solving element of the job is very satisfying. Putting different materials together to produce something that meets the brief, complies with building regulations & planning, but achieves it in an elegant way. No two projects are the same.
Q: What have been your biggest professional challenges?
A: Probably the major extensions to Melrose and Ladies College. Work had to be done around a busy educational centre.
Q: What is your favourite building?
A: Usually the one I’m working on.
Q: What are you most looking forward to this year?
A: Working with GHA at Le Vieux Jardin to produce suitable accommodation in Guernsey for islanders with autism.
Q: How would someone describe you?
