projects Maison de Ville

Maison de Ville was once a fine Georgian town house which had been neglected and desperately needed some attention to save it from further decay and dereliction.

On our arrival in January 2006 we found a property where the porch door was jammed and could not be opened or closed properly and the rooms were divided off to form a house of multiply occupancy with different heating and domestic services serving different members of the same family.

The clients brief to Create was to provide a unified five bedroom family home. We set about this challenge by seeing what could be salvaged from the existing structure. To obtain the number of rooms and accommodation required we came up with a plan to extend the property to the north, south and east. We also suggested that the existing roof be completely removed and the roof raised to provide second floor attic bedrooms yet not at the loss of the traditional Georgian facade.

The project was successfully completed on time and on budget in January 2008, providing a house of nearly 4000 square foot with 5 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, lounge, dining room, sun lounge, family room, kitchen, study, utility room and 2 basement rooms.

We are to commence works on renovating the basement in 2010.
