Nic Joyce
bsc, barch.
Architectural Assistant
Nic grew up in Guernsey, attending Elizabeth College. After Achieving good A Level grades Nic attended Falmouth College of Art and completed an Art foundation course with merit. However, Nic realised that Architecture was the path he really wanted to follow.
To gain experience in the field of Architecture Nic worked for the States of Guernsey for three years as an Assistant Planner. During this time he gained vast experience of the internal workings of the Guernsey Planning system and forged good relationships with his colleagues.
Nic was awarded a position in the University of Wales in Cardiff to study architecture and achieved a 2:1 Grade for the first Bachelor of Science Degree and a Pass in the second degree, which involved Nic working for a year in London for a well-known practice.
Nic then returned to Guernsey and worked briefly for the Planning Department until a position became available at Create. Nic chose Create as they were a new practice who showed great design flair, and promised a great future.
Whilst working at Create Nic has been able to grow as an Assistant Architect, working on every aspect of the architectural process from: surveys, sketch designs, working drawings and running jobs on site. Nic also advises the practice on planning matters, assisting applications being approved without delay. He also has an interest in sustainable architecture.
