Stuart Bloese

Ba (hons)

Architectural Assistant

Stuart, like Ricky, started his architectural training as an apprentice architectural technician in Guernsey at the age of 16. These first three years of training provided Stuart with an alternative route to university than the more traditional ‘A’ levels and gave him invaluable experience in design and technical detailing. Stuart attended Portsmouth University where he gained a BA (Hons) in Architecture. During Stuart’s office based training he chose to work for a sole practitioner. It was while working at this practice that Stuart’s interest in 3D CAD design using ArchiCAD was allowed to flourish.

On leaving University Stuart took up a contract position as a CAD technician using ArchiCAD at Robert Adam Architects in Winchester; however, it soon became apparent to the directors that he was more than an average temp. Within a month he was offered a full time position and the following month as promoted to CAD Manager. Stuart helped develop CAD within the practice who were mainly drawing board based and implemented their growth from 3 CAD stations in 2000, to over 25 by 2006. In 2002 Stuart was promoted to Associate. While at Robert Adam Architects, Stuart worked on a large range of projects including one off country houses, prestigious housing developments and large scale commercial projects.
Following the birth of Stuart’s daughter in 2004, it became clear that the balance of work to home life had to be redressed. Stuart and family then moved to Guernsey in April 2007, to work for Create. Since Stuart has been with Create he has recommended and demonstrated ArchiCAD to James & Ricky showing the benefits of a 3D modelling CAD package that also produces 2D drawings, where previously Create used two separate programmes. The introduction of this software has enabled the majority of projects to now be drawn in 3D and has proved to be a huge success. It has helped both our clients and the planners who are now able to see the projects from a true perspective and explore the model, rather than fl at plans and elevations. Stuart is currently reviewing his options to complete his studies and become a Chartered Architect with the help and support of Create.
In his spare time Stuart is a keen dinghy sailor and tries, whenever possible, to get out on the water with his wife Carol as crew competing in dinghy races at the Guernsey Yacht Club.
