The owners of Highfield House approached us to come up with some ideas for providing a new extension to the rear of their traditional granite Guernsey Cottage. Our solution was to demolish the existing single storey extension and glazed link, retain the existing bedroom extension to the side of the house, and provide a new extension to the rear.
The new extension has been designed to provide a light and airy space incorporating sitting and dining areas, provide views over the rear garden, and connect the existing house seamlessly with the new and existing spaces. The extension also includes a utility room and en-suite shower room with new covered entrance from the existing driveway. Large sliding doors provide views over the rear garden and slot roof glazing and roof lights help to provide lots of natural light and ventilation. The new extension was designed specifically to compliment the existing cottage using a palette of complimentary materials such as exposed timber boarding and granite
